The library provides a wide variety of materials and services, including: public access computers, free Internet and Wi-fi access, DVD's, videos, books, magazines, large-print books, e-books, audiobooks, newspapers, interlibrary loan, and more...!
Membership is free! Library cards are available to permanent residents of Admaston/Bromley, Bonnechere Valley, and North Algona Wilberforce. Non-residents may purchase a card for $20.00.
You will be asked for verification of your Township address so please bring a driver’s license, mail or something that confirms your identity and address. If you reside outside the Township but own property, work or go to school in the Township you may also qualify for free membership. Children need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian before being assigned a library card.
You may borrow up to 10 books per person, but not all of the books on the same topic. We have a three-week loan period for most books, audio books, large print books,VHS tapes, and magazines although high demand materials like bestsellers may be on two week loans. DVD's and Museum Passes may be borrowed for 1 week. E-books may be borrowed for a 2 week period.
There is a book drop for small books or DVD's when the library is not open. You may also call during regular business hours to renew your books and avoid overdue fees. There are no phone renewals for items that are on hold. DVD's can only be renewed once and books can be renewed up to 2 times, unless they are reserved.
Every six weeks the Library receives new movies as part of the DVD Pool Collection of the Southern Ontario Library Services (SOLS). You may borrow the movies for one week at no charge. Enjoy a wide variety of movies for free!
Fines for books, magazines and VHS tapes are 20¢ a day with maximum charges for long overdue books. DVD's, Museum Passes, and audio books carry a fine of 50¢ per day. E-readers are $3.00 per day, with a maximum charge of $30.00 If a book/audiobook/DVD/VHS tape/e-reader etc. is damaged or lost, we ask that the full replacement cost be paid.
For items not located within our library system, our Interlibrary Loan department will try to obtain the material from another library. Through our interlibrary loan service, you have access to millions of books!
In some cases a small fee will apply (you will be notified prior to receiving the material). Patrons will be notified by phone when the material arrives; items will be held for one week. Loan periods will vary depending on the source library. Overdue fines are $1.00 per day. If a book is damaged or lost the patron will be charged the rate of replacement as per the lending library's policy. Interloan privileges can be limited or revoked at our discretion.
CNIB Partners Program - We have a Daisy Reader available for borrowing as well as hundreds of books available on CD. Please contact the library to learn more about our services or contact the CNIB for more information.
In addition to the above collections, the Library also offers an eBook Collection. You can access this collections via the Library's public access computers, as well as from the convenience of your own home! For more information on how to register for this service, please visit our NetLibrary page.
